The
Southern Pacific region of Costa Rica, made up mostly
by the territory of the Osa Peninsula, constitutes
the natural extreme point of convergence for land
and marine species. This factor makes this region
a natural ecological laboratory of great value for
research and conservation.
In this region you will be able to engage in various
types of light adventure activities, such as professional
scuba diving, recreational surfing, and horseback
riding. Also, If you prefer, you may just tour the
area and observe a wide variety of land and marine
species, many of which are endemic or threatened
by extinction, in their natural habitats.
The region conserves part of the tropical wet forest,
of the very wet forest, and of the rain forest as
well. Furthermore, you will be able to enjoy some
of the architectural features of the area, especially
in Refugio Biológico de la Isla del Caño
(Caño Island Biological Refuge), and a total
of 166 kilometers of beaches. Another option when
visiting this area is to navigate through the gorgeous
waterways that make up the Terraba and the Sierpe
Rivers. Additionally, you will experience the largest
mangrove swamps in the country.
And to top it all off, here you will also find the
unparalleled Corcovado National Park, a magnificent
example of the majestic luxury and beauty of the
scenery that the Golfo Dulce offers those who visit
it.
