Northern Zone

The Arenal Volcano is a perfect tourist destination for those wishing to observe the imposing natural beauty it poses. From La Fortuna City, located in the northern part of this country, it is easy to observe this volcano and enjoy the surprising wealth in the resources it has to offer, such as its abundant hot springs.
This zone comprises part of the province of Alajuela and part of the province of Guanacaste. It has flora representative of the cloud forest and of the wetlands, and it is under the protection of the "Isla del Caño" and the "Medio Queso" Refuges. This is the perfect place for spotting and watching a great variety of waterfowl as well as land birds. As if this were not enough, this region in the north of Costa Rica also provides the visitor with amazing waterfalls and mysterious caverns.
