This region offers a rich
gamma of possibilities for those interested in practicing
all types of water sports. Also, those with the sole
interest of just sitting back and enjoying the warm
tropical sun will be equally satisfied. In this region
you will find famous beautiful beaches such as El Coco,
Hermosa, Ocotal, Flamingo, Conchal, Grande, Tamarindo,
Ostional, Sámara, y Carrillo.
This zone is located in the northeastern part of the
province of Guanacaste and envelops the Papagayo Gulf.
Here you will be able to experience first hand a great
deal of the Costa Rican culture, as you will have the
opportunity to enjoy "marimba" music, folkloric
dances, the typical foods, and way of life of the cattle
ranchers. Likewise, you will be able to visit the Orosí,
Rincón de la Vieja, and Miravalles volcanoes.
This region brings protection to its great ecologically
diverse forests and marine sectors, to the habitats
typical to the zone, to the hydrographic watersheds
and their scenic marvels by conserving the dry forests,
the moist forests, the secondary forests, the secondary
scrub lands ("tacotales"), the graze lands,
the lagoons and the mangrove swamps.
