In
Costa Rica you may go horseback riding practically anywhere
in the country. It is common to find people riding horses
in places near the beaches, along gravel roads in the
countryside, or in some of the trails in the mountains
and forests.
Costa Rica has a deep-rooted cultural
relation with horses and a keen understanding of these
noble animals. The province with the longest tradition
concerning horses is Guanacaste. Many of the mountain
and beach hotels and naturalist shelters offer horseback
riding tours that take the visitor through pasturing
fields, tropical forests and beaches. While stopping
periodically to take in the beauty offered by waterfalls
and lagoons, you may just relax and enjoy the scenery,
or if you prefer, take the opportunity to do some bird
watching as during your tour you will surely encounter
countless numbers of these feathered friends.
