Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with advance notice.

Location:
3,8 m from the town of Hojancha, Guanacaste.

Access:
Hojancha is the last town served by public transportation, from there one must use a taxi or car for the 3,8 m trip on a gravel road.

ATTRACTIONS OF THE MONTE ALTO FOREST RESERVE

  • Premontane Moist Forest in transition to Humid Forest
  • Birdlife
  • An orchid garden with about 65 species and 300 specimens of the "guaria morada" orchid
  • The headwaters of the Nosara River
  • Some of the wildlife species common in the area include paca (Agouti paca), mantled howler monkey (Alouatta palliata) and coati (Nasua narica).
  • Elevations: 1312-2897 feet.
